We drove up a short windy road which led us up high in the hills over-looking the Golden Gate bridge and the bay.

Then we drove down to Big Sur which was absolutely stunning. First a long stretch along the coast, between steep hills with deep folds and the sea streching out to the horizon. Then the lush forest, almost alpine in a weird way. Read on

After checking in to the hotel and checking out the cracking view through the double glazing of SF fog and lack of sleep, we went on a bit of a tour of the city.
It wasn’t before a seriously oversized burrito in the Mission, several expeditions to bike shops in search , of the perfect helmet, tons of time spent in the streets looking for cabs, and even longer spent inside cabs, and finally the biggest sushi meal in the world…that we made it back to hotel for an early night.
