California Trip

This is the longest I’d left it without posting an update on the blog. What happened?
Well Reno happened, and a lot of other things too.

We left South Tahoe in Thursday morning and crossed the mountains into Nevada. The scenery and vegetation changed straight away, and the temperature must have gone up about 10°C about as fast. Read on

California Trip

Today was pretty relaxed riding-wise as we only made the short trip from Tahoe City to South Tahoe.
The lake offers some beautiful views and the hotels are very confortable; it’s all very different and much more touristy and up-market than most of the places we visited to far.

California Trip

A few hours into the day I was wondering if I’d have much to write about.
The road from Klamath falls was great: dead straight, went up and down like a roller-coaster and we had it entirely to ourselves.
Great fun but not much to write home about. We made it to Mount Shasta, a nice little town at the foot of its namesake which is meant to be one of the highest mountains in the area. Read on

Crater Lake

California Trip

So today we reached Crater Lake, the main reason we travelled up to Oregon.
I had never imagined the crater could be so immense, or the view of its abrupt mountainous rim so beautiful.
The whole thing is so dramatic and picturesque that its first sight knocked the wind out of me. Forced me to sit, silent and humbled.
We were lucky that it was very sunny and so the lake in the crater al the way down below was a rich mediteranian blue-green. Read on
