What I’ve been up to the past few weeks
Rule No 7 of blog-writing says: ‘Don’t start a post apoligising for not having written in a long time.’.
Well…this pretty much is a diary type entry, focusing on (I blush) me, and it’ll explain why I’ve been so quiet on the blog front after doing quite well for some time.
First of all, I joined Rothco (one of Dublin’s leading advertising agencies) some 2 months ago. It’s early days yet, so I leave the grump at home for the moment and I seem to get along very well with everyone. Well, by that I mean no-one’s called me a ‘moody French prick’ yet…
It’s a great place to work and the desire to do it justice in a RGB kinda way has kept me too busy to blog, tweet, or indulge in any other form of digital narcissism which had been at the centre of my job-seeking days.
Speaking of which, I was delighted by the opportunity to write for the Digital Times about social media and job-seeking. The article is entitled ‘A digital strategy for Brand Me, or how to land a job using social media’, and I’ll post it here soon enough.
I’m also very much looking forward to taking part in the Dublin session of the world-wide event called Portfolio Night 8. It’s a 3hr session during which creative directors try to help students and people looking to get into advertising. Looks like I’m one of very few digital creative directors there, so I’ll try to do us proud.
On the award front, the end of the season was kind to my clients (well, ex-clients) by choosing to ackowledge the following campaigns:

Best Long Term Promotional Campaign (Gold) – Powerade NGU
Best Use of Social Media (Gold) – Powerade Never Give Up
