White River Rafting

California Trip
Turns out that the sun didn’t really get its act together until after we’d come back. Actually the water was so cold that each time we hit rapids and got splashed, it was like a mini hydrothermic shock.
It was a lot of fun though, and the scenery we saw from the river was unbelievable. Right out of a cowboy film with the sheer rock walls on either side, transparent water close to turquoise, and even a bald eagle.
The rest of the day wasn’t so nice unfortunately. We set off for Diamond Lake and Crater Lake, and most of the way was on a huge highway, over 37°C, where ever single truck driver decided to drive well over the speed limit.
We’re now deep in the forest, very close to Crater Lake. We’re staying at a roadside place which has a shop, a diner and a few bungalows. Luckily they’d lost the key to the small dingy cabin we requested so we got and upgrade to their biggest one. It even has a washer-dryer which means that we won’t be needing to start a third clothes rotation…
