Knackered

Very long day today. Started out with Monterey aquarium to say hi to the sea otters and check out what can only be described as insanely trippy jellyfish.


Then we drove down to Big Sur which was absolutely stunning. First a long stretch along the coast, between steep hills with deep folds and the sea streching out to the horizon. Then the lush forest, almost alpine in a weird way.


We didnt have time to stop there, which was a real pity. We had a long drive ahead of us, all the way back to San Francisco, and across the bridge to Sausalito.


This turned out to be quite a challenge at we had to contend with very strong winds, followed by a seriously bendy stretch of motorway in the mountains, and finally complete and utter fog. Visibility went way down (not helped by the fact that I forgot to take off my sunglasses…) and when we got to the Golden Gate Bridge I was gutted not to able to actually see it even though we were riding on it.


The fog finally lifted as we got about half way across the bridge, almost instantaneously, a we caught a glimpse of the second huge red tower structure.


The hotel is located just beyond it, and I was relieved to finally get to it.
The view of the bridge is great and now that I’ve a belly full of food and beer, it’s time to say goodnight.
