First two days

California Trip
After checking in to the hotel and checking out the cracking view through the double glazing of SF fog and lack of sleep, we went on a bit of a tour of the city.
It wasn’t before a seriously oversized burrito in the Mission, several expeditions to bike shops in search , of the perfect helmet, tons of time spent in the streets looking for cabs, and even longer spent inside cabs, and finally the biggest sushi meal in the world…that we made it back to hotel for an early night.
This morning we were like kids in a candy store when we got to the bike rental place.
I still can’t believe how huge the bike’s are. In spite of our worst fears, we didnt drop them in full view of the rental staff. or even at all. Nick stalled, just. But I suppose that’s ok, cause he stalled all day long anyway.
We drove down to Santa Cruz to say hi to my old gaffe and the seals that live under the warf. Then got surprised by seriously heavy traffic on the duakl carriage way just out side of Santa Cruz so we decided to see how easy it would be to drive in between lanes with the two oil tankers we rented. Turns out they’re so big that cars move politely out of the way. For fear of getting their side view mirrors knocked off, probably.
After that, we had to contend with some serious heavy winds, which isn’t exactly reassuring when you’re doing 100km/h on a motorbike. Par for the course I guess. Nick’s hoping I won’t be quite as grumpy at the end of the day tmw. So do I.
Anyway, now we’re in a really class hotel outside of Monterey, and I’m drinking a beer and chilling out, thinking I better get to bed soon, because tomorrow we’re going to Monterey Aquarium, Big Sur, and driving back north to sausalito…
